Well, I'm not quite sure what it's called in America, but, I did a 150 foot abseil this morning and it was fantastic! Abseiling is where you have a harness round your waste and you lower yourself down clifs or sides of buildings etc. I managed to raise £150 sponsorship money. It was all in aid of the RNIB, Royal National Institute for the Blind.

I did and abseil about three years ago, but a lot has gone on, or for the most part, re-surfaced in my life since and I've had a fair bit to deal with which has knocked my self confidence.

Back in January, I went skiing, which was absolutely great, but it made me realise that I needed to stop being so pathetically, unnecessarily scared of my own shaddow and go and do things that I wanted to do. So, that's what I did, all be it by accident.

I went out with a few friends back in January, internet_king being one of them, and we had a few drinks, and dinner etc, and someone said, "Oh, well, if you want to do things that'll push you, how about doing this abseil!" Well, of course, after a few drinks, I thought it was a great idea. The next day, when I realised what I'd agreed to, I was, well, I dont' know how to describe what I was, but I still called and booked up because I didnt' wanna duck out and look like I was gutless, not that I should care what people think... Anyway, the best thing I've ever done. Really put things back in to perspective for me and you can bet I'll be at the front of the queue for next time! It was such a buz! it was brilliant!

No, with abseiling, you just lower yourself down. Bunji jumping, you are on an elastic and you jump and freefall until the elastic is tight, then it springs you back up again. you just keep going up and down until you lose speed, an that's one thing I am never gunna do! lol

Is that like rappelling? I know it's not quite rock climbing because you're going down, not up, but it reminds me of rappelling.

you could do worse than try your local climbing group they might teach you..but as with any risky sport you MUST listen to everything, otherwise you may die!.
